The anime industry is moving incredibly fast, so let’s jump straight into today’s biggest anime news updates!
1. Romance Anime Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You Season 2 Previews Opening Song
The official website for Haruka Mitsui’s romance manga adaptation Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You (Dōse, Koishite Shimaunda.) revealed a new promotional video for the anime’s second season. The video previews the opening theme song “L to R”, performed by idol group ME:I.
The second season will premiere on TBS on January 8 (late-night slot) and air on BS11 on January 11. Crunchyroll has confirmed global streaming availability, including India and Southeast Asia.
Additionally, Mayuko Kazama joins the cast as Kuroda, a former university classmate of Shin who has lingering feelings for him, adding a new emotional layer to the story.
2. non the Sorcerer Can See Reveals Main Promotional Video and Early Streaming Plans
The staff behind the fantasy anime Kunon the Sorcerer Can See released the series’ main promotional video, revealing both theme songs and early streaming plans.
The opening theme, “Rakenaria no Yume,” is performed by Isekaijoucho, while the ending theme “Story feat. katagiri” is sung by Kohta Yamamoto.
Episodes one and two will begin early streaming on ABEMA and d Anime Store on January 4, ahead of the television broadcast on TokyoBS Asahi, Tokyo MX, and WOWOW. Crunchyroll will stream the anime internationally.
The cast includes Saori Hayami, Maaya Uchida, Akari Kitō, Rikako Yamaguchi, and Nobunaga Shimazaki.
3. New Cat’s Eye Anime Reveals Trailer and Additional Cast for Second Half
Disney+ streamed a new trailer for the second half of the Cat’s Eye anime adaptation, based on Tsukasa Hōjō’s classic manga. The announcement also revealed two new cast members:
Ryōtarō Okiayu as Michael Heintz and Kenyū Horiuchi as Shin Kaibara.
The first half of the series aired between September and October, while the remaining six episodes will stream weekly from December 26, 2025, to January 30, 2026. Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ will stream the anime in North America.
4. Girls & Panzer: Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu! Film Gets Accompanying Mini-Anime
Bandai Namco Filmworks announced that the first film in the four-part Girls & Panzer: Motto Love Love Sakusen Desu! theatrical project will include a short mini-anime titled “Shin Iemoto, Tōjō Desu!”
The mini-anime centers on Shiho Nishizumi and Chiyo Shimada and will screen after the main feature. The films will release sequentially on December 26, January 30, March 6, and April 10.
5. Dark Fantasy Anime Roll Over and Die Confirms January Premiere
The anime adaptation of ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword! released a new promotional video previewing the ending theme song “I Need” by Yuki Tanaka.
The series will premiere on January 8 on Tokyo MX and BS11, followed by an AT-X broadcast. Crunchyroll will stream the anime globally, including India.

6. Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories Returns with 16th Season
TV Tokyo confirmed that the long-running horror short series Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories will return with its 16th season on January 11. The theme for the new season is “ties.”
Director Akira Funada returns alongside a large voice cast, and the ending theme “Masquerade Night” will be performed by yosugala.
7. Netflix Confirms Devil May Cry Animated Series Season 2 for 2026
Netflix announced that the animated Devil May Cry series will return with a second season on May 12, 2026.
The first season debuted with eight episodes and reached #4 on Netflix’s global Top 10, recording 5.3 million views in three days. Multiple seasons had been planned since early development.
8. The Darwin Incident Anime Confirms January 6 Broadcast
A new trailer confirmed that the anime adaptation of The Darwin Incident will premiere on January 6 on TV Tokyo and its affiliates. The series will also stream on Amazon Prime Video in Japan.
The anime explores moral and societal conflict surrounding a human–chimpanzee hybrid.

9. You and I Are Polar Opposites Anime Reveals Opening Theme in New Promotional Video
Shochiku unveiled the fourth promotional video for the television anime adaptation of Kōcha Agasawa’s romantic comedy manga You and I Are Polar Opposites (Seihantaina Kimi to Boku). The newly released video reveals and previews the anime’s opening theme song “Lose the Frames”, performed by Noa.
The anime is scheduled to premiere on January 11, airing on MBS, TBS, and their affiliated channels every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. JST. In Japan, the series will also stream on ABEMA starting at 5:30 p.m. JST. Crunchyroll has confirmed it will stream the anime as it airs internationally.
The cast lineup includes:
- Sayumi Suzushiro as Suzuki
- Shōgo Sakata as Tani
- Yuna Taniguchi as Watanabe
- Konatsu Hirabayashi as Sato
- Anji Iwata as Yamada
- Miyuri Shimabukuro as Azuma
- Wataru Katō as Taira

The series focuses on two students with completely opposite personalities navigating romance, communication, and emotional growth.
10. ’Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess Anime Season 2 Reveals Main Promo Video and Theme Songs
The official website for the anime adaptation of Robinson Haruhara and Hirakei’s ’Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess manga revealed the main promotional video for the anime’s second season.
The new season’s theme songs were also announced:
- Opening Theme: “Sunday Morning” by South Korean girl group ILLIT
- Ending Theme: “Ohime-sama ni wa Narenai” (I Can’t Become a Princess) by Japanese singer-songwriter Yuika
In addition to the promo, the website confirmed two new cast members, expanding the already eccentric and comedic lineup of characters. Season 2 will continue the series’ unique blend of absurd comedy, mock “torture” sessions, and wholesome character moments.

11. Cosmic Princess Kaguya! Anime Film Streams Music Videos for Original Songs
The official YouTube channel for Shingo Yamashita’s anime film Cosmic Princess Kaguya! (Chō Kaguya-hime!) has begun releasing a series of music videos featuring original songs from the film.
The channel streamed a music video for:
- “Watashi wa Watashi no Koto ga Suki” (I Like Who I Am)
- Performed by Yūko Natsuyoshi as Kaguya

12. Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans – Urðr Hunt Film Reveals English-Subtitled January Screenings
An English-subtitled trailer confirmed that Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans – Urðr Hunt Special Edition: Path of the Little Challenger will screen theatrically in North America on January 12–13 and January 15, 2026.
The screenings will be part of “Gundam Premiere Night” and include:
- Urðr Hunt Special Edition
- The 10th anniversary short film “Makuai no Kusabi”
- A 4K remaster of Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz Special Edition
- English dub on January 12–13
- English subtitles on January 15
The film originally opened in Japan on October 31, earning 108.4 million yen in its first three days. The Urðr Hunt project began in 2019 and later debuted through the Iron-Blooded Orphans G mobile app, combining anime and game storytelling elements.
This release commemorates the 10th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.
