1. Crunchyroll and Sony Bring Makoto Shinkai’s Movies to India

Crunchyroll, together with Sony Pictures Entertainment, has brought Makoto Shinkai’s movies to Indian anime fans through its streaming platform.

On December 6, 2025, Makoto Shinkai also sent a special message to Indian fans through Crunchyroll India. If you don’t know who Makoto Shinkai is, he is the director, writer, and artist behind some of the greatest anime movies, including The Garden of Words, Your Name, Weathering With You, and Suzume.

Crunchyroll announced that eight of Shinkai’s movies would be available to stream in India, including Suzume, Your Name, Weathering With You, The Garden of Words, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, 5 Centimeters per Second, The Place Promised in Our Early Days, and Voices of a Distant Star. Some of the biggest titles, including Your Name and Weathering With You, also received Hindi dubs for the first time.

And after seeing the current Indian anime fanbase and how quickly the anime industry is growing in India, this looks like a smart move by Crunchyroll and Sony.

It shows that major anime companies are paying more attention to the Indian market and its growing anime audience.

2. More Cast and Promo Video for The Prince of Tennis II U-17 World Cup

The staff for The Prince of Tennis II U-17 World Cup anime has unveiled a new promotional video, visual, and four cast members for Spain’s national team.

Not only that, they have also confirmed the anime’s premiere date.

The newly announced cast includes:

Tasuku Hatanaka as Julio Roman
Reiji Kawashima as Mars de Colón
Ryūho Nagaoka as Silva Serra Banbieri
Megumi Han as Sedah

The Spanish U-17 team is one of the major teams in the story, and fans have been waiting to see more of its players in the anime.

3. More Cast and New Trailer for From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2

NBCUniversal Japan has revealed another promotional video for From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2.

Not only did they release the promotional video, but they also announced more cast members for the anime.

The second season continues the story of Beryl Gardinant, the humble swordsman whose incredible skills have made him one of the strongest swordsmen around. The second season premiered in Japan on July 8, 2026, and is also available worldwide through Prime Video.

The new promotional material gives fans a better look at the upcoming battles and new characters, making the second season even more exciting for fans of the series.

Finally, we have some sad news for manga fans.

4. Sad News for Battle Game in 5 Seconds Manga Fans

Shogakukan’s MangaONE app announced that the author of Battle Game in 5 Seconds, Miyako Kashiwa, is going on hiatus.

In a written message, Miyako Kashiwa said that they had been struggling with poor health for some time, but the situation reached a point in June where drawing manga became difficult.

After undergoing medical examinations, Miyako Kashiwa was diagnosed with depression, and an underlying medical condition was also identified. The author is now taking a break to focus on treatment and recovery.

Miyako Kashiwa also thanked readers for their support, with the manga recently reaching its 11th anniversary.

This is not the first time the manga has gone on hiatus. In October 2024, the author announced a break, explaining that they needed time as the manga was approaching its ending. The series remained on hiatus from October 2024 until January 2025, when serialization resumed.

For now, fans will have to wait for further updates regarding the manga’s return.

We hope Miyako Kashiwa gets enough time to rest and recover, and we wish the author a healthy recovery.
