Witch on the Holy Night Anime Film Reveals Returning Main Cast

ufotable officially revealed the returning main cast members for the upcoming anime film adaptation of Type-Moon’s famous visual novel Mahōtsukai no Yoru (Witch on the Holy Night). Fans of the Fate franchise are especially excited because ufotable is once again handling the animation, which already raises expectations for incredible visuals and cinematic animation quality.

The returning cast includes:

  • Haruka Tomatsu as Aoko Aozaki
  • Kana Hanazawa as Alice Kuonji
  • Yūsuke Kobayashi as Soujyuro Sizuki

The movie is currently scheduled to release later this year.

For fans unfamiliar with the franchise, Witch on the Holy Night is one of Type-Moon’s most respected visual novels and is deeply connected to the larger Nasuverse universe that includes Fate/stay night and Tsukihime. The story follows Aoko Aozaki, a young girl who unexpectedly becomes the heir to a powerful magical family despite having little interest in magic itself.

The original visual novel first launched in 2012 and later received a global Steam release in 2023, introducing many new international fans to the story. Considering ufotable’s previous success with Demon Slayer and Fate, anime fans are expecting one of the best-looking anime films of the year.

Black Torch TV Anime Reveals More Cast and Staff Members

The upcoming Black Torch TV anime revealed several new cast and staff members this week ahead of its July 4 premiere.

The anime adaptation is based on Tsuyoshi Takaki’s supernatural action manga, which became popular for its fast-paced battles and ninja-inspired powers. Crunchyroll has already confirmed worldwide streaming in multiple regions including North America, Europe, the Middle East, and more.

Main cast members include:

  • Ryōta Suzuki as Jiro Azuma
  • Yōji Ueda as Rago
  • Sayaka Senbongi as Ichika Kishimojin
  • Junya Enoki as Reiji Kirihara

The story follows Jiro Azuma, a descendant of ninja clans who can communicate with animals. His life changes after meeting Rago, a mysterious black cat who is actually a powerful mononoke spirit. Together, they become involved in dangerous supernatural conflicts.

Even though the manga ended years ago, fans have continued requesting an anime adaptation, so many are happy that the series is finally getting animated. The anime’s strong production staff and action-focused visuals could help make it one of the surprise hits of the Summer anime season.

Gundam Franchise Begins Road to 50th Anniversary Celebration

The Gundam franchise revealed massive plans for its upcoming 50th anniversary celebration during the “Gundam Conference Spring 2026” livestream event.

One of the biggest reveals was a new animated short titled A Boy With Gundam, which serves as the beginning of the “Road to 50” celebration project leading toward 2029.

The franchise also announced:

  • A global “Gundam-Con” event beginning in January 2027
  • Official recognition of April 7 as “Gundam Day” in Japan
  • A remaster project for the original anime series
  • A new Gundam-themed landmark facility in Japan
  • Additional Hololive collaboration projects

Sadly, the life-size Unicorn Gundam statue in Tokyo’s Odaiba area will be removed in August 2026 after nearly a decade as one of Japan’s biggest anime tourist attractions.

The Gundam franchise remains one of the most influential anime franchises ever created. Since the original Mobile Suit Gundam aired in 1979, the series has inspired generations of anime creators and helped define the mecha genre worldwide.

Gundam Seed FREEDOM ZERO Prequel Anime Confirmed

Another huge Gundam announcement this week was the official confirmation of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed FREEDOM ZERO, a prequel anime connected to the blockbuster Gundam Seed FREEDOM movie.

The original movie became the highest-grossing Gundam film in Japanese history after releasing in January 2024. Because of its massive success, fans have been waiting for more information about the prequel project.

Interestingly, the staff revealed that the script for FREEDOM ZERO was actually completed nearly 20 years ago. The project was originally planned as an OVA but is now being developed for theatrical release instead.

The prequel will explore events that happened before the movie and will likely expand the backstory of fan-favorite characters like Kira Yamato.

For longtime Gundam SEED fans, this announcement was one of the biggest surprises of the week.

GATE 2: Tides of Conflict Reveals New Visual

The sequel anime GATE 2: Tides of Conflict revealed a brand-new visual this week along with additional production details.

The original GATE anime became popular because of its unique mix of fantasy and modern military warfare. Instead of focusing on fantasy heroes alone, the story shows Japan’s Self-Defense Forces entering another world filled with dragons, magic, and kingdoms.

The sequel is currently scheduled for 2027 and will once again feature music by Yoshiaki Fujisawa, who worked on the original anime series.

One unique feature about this new project is that fans will be able to directly contribute to production support through the Oshi platform, which promises behind-the-scenes content and fan participation systems.

Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms Season 2 Announced

The romantic comedy anime Medaka Kuroiwa is Impervious to My Charms officially confirmed its second season this week.

  • Yū Serizawa as Mona Kawai

The story follows Mona, a confident girl who is used to attracting everyone’s attention, until she meets Medaka, a boy who appears completely unaffected by her charm. Their hilarious interactions and growing relationship became one of the reasons fans enjoyed the first season.

I Made Friends With the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class Reveals New Promo Video

The upcoming romance anime I Made Friends With the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class revealed its third promotional video alongside new cast members.

The anime adaptation is based on a popular light novel series and officially premiered earlier this year. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime worldwide.

The story follows Maki Maehara, an ordinary student who unexpectedly becomes friends with one of the most popular girls in class. Unlike many romance anime focused purely on drama, this series emphasizes friendship, emotional comfort, and realistic conversations between characters.
