Anime Summary

Sound! Euphonium

Kumiko Oumae enrolls in a school with a renowned music band club, hoping to leave her past behind and start fresh. Unfortunately, her new friends, Sapphire Kawashima and Hazuki Katou, drag her into the school’s band club, and she finds herself once again playing the euphonium.

Currently, the band’s performance level is poor. The school band has lost its prestige, and they are in a state where they can’t even participate in the local festival, Sunfest, let alone compete at a national level. After the arrival of their new advisor, Noboru Taki, whose approach and techniques are different, he presents them with a choice: relax and have fun, or practice hard and aim for nationals. Kumiko, wanting to avoid repeating her middle school mistakes, is now doubtful about whether to try for nationals.

To complicate matters, she learns that her old bandmate, Reina Kousaka, with whom Kumiko doesn’t have a good relationship, is joining the Kitauji High School band club. If she joins, Kumiko will have to follow the strict routine set by the new advisor so they can qualify for nationals.

What Makes It Worth Watching?

Sound! Euphonium

You might be wondering, ‘What makes Sound! Euphonium anime worth watching?’ Let’s break that down

To be honest, I had no prior experience with being a member of a band. After watching the three seasons and all the released movies of this anime, I’ve come to one conclusion: people who seem to work effortlessly have actually worked incredibly hard every day. That’s why their work appears easy, but in reality, it’s the result of immense dedication. This anime taught me that in a large band, many instruments must synchronize perfectly to produce good music. Also, the top-level animation is remarkable. I’m not a music expert, but the sounds and music are excellent. And let’s not forget the very good storyline. This anime is one of my personal favorites in the music genre.

Do You Really Need

Ultimately, it’s your choice whether or not to watch any anime. The first two or three episodes of this anime might seem slow, as they focus on past memories and building the storyline. However, this anime is genuinely good, and anime fans should recognize that there are anime beyond action, adventure, drama, and rom-com that deserve their attention.
