Why This Comedy Movie Stands Out

Korean dramas are widely known for their melodrama and romance, but if you think Korean entertainment can’t make you laugh hard enough to cry, think again!

The movie we’re talking about today is refreshingly unique, and it’s rare to find a story and concept like this in mainstream cinema.

Plot Summary & Additional Info

Funny Korean Movie

Like many special agent movies, it starts with a mission. But after a mission goes wrong, our main character Jun falls into the ocean. Luckily, he survives—and instead of continuing his spy life, he chases his dream of becoming a cartoonist.

He gets married, becomes a father to a little girl, and hides his past identity from his family. Though he’s now a cartoonist, he’s not successful and struggles financially. To make ends meet, he works part-time on construction sites.

One night, drunk and frustrated, he draws a webtoon based on his old life as a secret agent. When he wakes up, he discovers that his wife has already uploaded it online—and it’s gone viral!

Seeing the success, he continues the webtoon to provide a better life for his family. But here’s the twist: his former NIS (National Intelligence Service) partner, who thought Jun was dead, now realizes he’s alive through the comic.

Not only the NIS, but a mysterious man named Jason, who seems to be part of a criminal or mafia organization, also finds out. Jason wants him dead.

This is where the real chaos begins. For everything else—you’ll need to watch the movie.

Pace of story

Funny Korean Movie

The beginning is a bit slow, especially until Jun starts drawing the webtoon based on his spy life. But once the comic goes viral, the pacing picks up tremendously. Before you know it, the movie ends—and you’re left wanting more.

Personal opinion

At first, I was confused. The tone felt different from what the movie title suggested. But once I finished it, everything made sense.

The comedy is top-notch, with a nice blend of action and just a pinch of melodrama. The movie is only 110 minutes, so it has to wrap everything up quickly—but it does so quite well.

I’d give this movie a solid 7/10. Here’s why:

  • The film could’ve been a little longer—it sometimes feels rushed toward the end.
  • While the humor is good, the script could’ve been tighter. Maybe that’s why it didn’t get much attention.
  • Jun is a former agent, but he’s never shown working out—yet he’s in top shape, which feels a bit unrealistic.

Still, the film has charm and originality that’s hard to ignore.
