The drama centers on Hwang Dong Man, a man who finds himself struggling with feelings of failure and inadequacy as he watches his friends succeed in life while he continues to chase his dream of becoming a film director.
Despite spending 20 years trying to debut as a director, Dong Man’s career has not progressed the way he hoped. Surrounded by accomplished friends, he slowly becomes consumed by envy, frustration, and a deep sense of worthlessness.
The drama explores the theme of anxiety and self-worth, aiming to resonate with viewers who feel stuck in life or unsure about their direction.
One of Dong Man’s most noticeable traits is his constant talking. He rambles endlessly in conversations, not because he enjoys talking, but because he fears silence. For him, silence represents the terrifying possibility that the world might forget he exists.
His nonstop monologues become a survival instinct — almost like a message to the world saying:
“I’m still here.”
Dong Man also displays eccentric behaviors that reflect his emotional struggles. Whether it’s trying to catch falling leaves, shouting his own name from the top of a hill, or wearing a leather coat that once belonged to a World War II veteran, these strange habits symbolize his resistance against sinking into hopelessness.
Despite the weight of reality constantly pushing him down, Dong Man refuses to give up on writing his own story.
The drama is written by Park Hae Young, known for the critically acclaimed series My Liberation Notes, and directed by Cha Young Hoon, who previously worked on Welcome to Samdal-ri.
The series features a strong supporting cast including Go Youn Jung, Oh Jung Se, Kang Mal Geum, and Park Hae Joon.
We Are All Trying Here is scheduled to premiere on JTBC this April.
2. Park Jin Young and Kim Min Ju Discuss Their Roles in “Still Shining”
On March 5, JTBC held a press conference in Seoul for its upcoming Friday drama Still Shining, where the lead actors shared insights into their characters and the emotional journey viewers can expect from the story.
The drama follows a group of young people who once shared a special connection during their youth. As time passes and their lives change, they gradually become sources of support and light for one another while navigating adulthood.
Park Jin Young plays Yeon Tae Seo, a subway train operator whose calm personality hides the challenges he faces in life.
According to the actor, one of the most important aspects of portraying Tae Seo was showing how the character evolves over time.
He explained that the writer wanted Tae Seo to feel like the same person in his 20s and his 30s, even as he grows older. Rather than drastically changing the character, Jin Young focused on showing how Tae Seo quietly endures life’s hardships with maturity.
To better understand the role, he spent time discussing the character with the director and carefully worked on maintaining a calm and consistent personality throughout the story.
The drama also features Kim Min Ju as Mo Eun Ah, a guesthouse manager who previously worked as a hotelier.
Eun Ah carries emotional scars from her childhood. Growing up, she had to take care of her father, who struggled with severe depression and once attempted to take his own life.
This responsibility shaped her personality and deeply affected how she sees the world.
The story becomes even more emotional when Eun Ah reunites with Tae Seo — the person who once helped her escape the weight of her past.
Kim Min Ju revealed that portraying Eun Ah was challenging because the character appears in three different life stages: her teens, twenties, and thirties.
To bring authenticity to the role, she focused on understanding how Eun Ah’s personality and values would evolve depending on her life experiences.
Still Shining officially premieres March 6 and will be available for streaming on Netflix.
3. “The Roundup 5” Production Team Warns Fans About Casting Scams
The production team behind the upcoming film The Roundup 5 recently released an official statement warning fans about impersonation scams related to casting and auditions.
According to the announcement, there have been reports of individuals pretending to be members of the production staff and contacting people with fake audition opportunities.
The team clarified that while they may sometimes contact actors who do not have agencies, they always provide clear identification, including their name, affiliation, and verification if requested.

Netflix has officially confirmed that Bloodhounds Season 2 will premiere worldwide on April 3.
The first season, released in 2023, followed two young boxers who joined forces to take down a ruthless loan shark operation.
The series quickly gained popularity for its intense action scenes, emotional storytelling, and strong performances.
Season 2 raises the stakes by introducing a global underground boxing league, pushing the characters into an even more dangerous environment.
