Hello anime fans! Welcome back to AniWorldTV — your go-to place for anime news, reviews, and theories.
Today, we’re diving into an interesting question that every Dragon Ball Super fan has wondered at least once:
Who has the most potential to become the next God of Destruction in Universe 7?

As we know, Lord Beerus once saw great potential in Goku and even offered him the position multiple times. But as expected, Goku refused; he’s not interested in such responsibilities.
Then, after Dragon Ball Super manga chapters 68 and 69, Beerus taught Vegeta the technique of destruction, and fans instantly thought Vegeta was destined to take that role.
But is he really the best choice? Or could someone else be more suited to inherit Beerus’s position?

Let’s rank the top contenders from Universe 7 and find out who truly deserves to become the next God of Destruction.

Criteria for Selection

To be a God of Destruction, one must possess:

  • Immense power and combat potential
  • A strong and strategic mind
  • The ability to make emotionless decisions for the balance of the universe

And most of these potential candidates were seen in the Tournament of Power, so we’ll base our rankings on their performance, mindset, and potential for growth.

10 Master Roshi

Next God of Destruction in Universe 7

Master Roshi may be old, but he’s still one of the few mortals who managed to tap into Ultra Instinct — even if briefly. His wisdom and experience are unmatched, but due to his old age and, well… his pervy nature, it’s safe to say he’s not cut out for such divine responsibility.
Still, respect where it’s due, Roshi’s spirit never fades.

9 Krillin

Next God of Destruction in Universe 7

Once Goku’s biggest rival, Krillin has come a long way. He’s smart, brave (most of the time), and has shown incredible growth throughout Dragon Ball Z.
However, in Dragon Ball Super, Krillin’s focus has shifted toward living a peaceful family life. He’s become more cautious, sometimes even fearful of stronger opponents.
Because of this change, Krillin is no longer the fierce warrior he once was. Hence, not a suitable choice for a God of Destruction.

8 Tien Shinhan

Next God of Destruction in Universe 7

Tien remains a skilled martial artist and teacher. In the Tournament of Power, he showed impressive strategic thinking and teamwork.
While he’s disciplined and calm, Tien’s soft-hearted nature disqualifies him from being a destroyer.
However, his wisdom would make him an excellent Supreme Kai someday.

7 Android 17 & 18

Both Androids possess incredible power reserves and never tire, a major advantage.

  • Android 18 is smart, agile, and level-headed but prioritizes her family over fighting.
  • Android 17, on the other hand, has evolved tremendously since the Cell saga. His selflessness and strategic mind helped Universe 7 win the Tournament of Power.
Still, being an android limits their emotional range and growth potential. Therefore, they might not be ideal candidates for the role.

6 Gohan

Next God of Destruction in Universe 7

Gohan’s potential has always been unmatched, even greater than Goku and Vegeta. However, he’s chosen the path of peace, family, and academia.
While his hidden power (especially in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero) proves he could easily rival gods, his lack of desire for battle or destruction makes him an unlikely successor to Beerus.

5 Broly

Next God of Destruction in Universe 7

Broly is pure power, no question there. His strength rivals that of the gods, but his lack of emotional control and unstable rage make him too dangerous for such a divine role.
A God of Destruction must act with calculated precision, not raw fury. Unless Broly masters his temper and learns self-control, he’s not the one.

4 Majin Buu

Next God of Destruction in Universe 7

Yes, Majin Buu didn’t participate in the Tournament of Power because he overslept (classic Buu), but his power level is immense.
He even absorbed the Grand Supreme Kai’s powers, giving him divine energy.
However, his childish personality and unpredictability make him too risky. Beerus would never hand such power to someone who might nap through universal chaos.

3 Vegeta

Next God of Destruction in Universe 7

After Beerus taught Vegeta the technique of destruction, fans believed the Saiyan Prince was destined to be the next God of Destruction. However, Beerus never officially took him as his disciple, he merely demonstrated the technique.

Over time, Vegeta has evolved tremendously, mastering Ultra Ego, a form that perfectly aligns with the destructive mindset of a God of Destruction. Despite mastering Ultra Ego, which embodies pure destructive intent, Vegeta’s lingering Saiyan pride and deep compassion for his family fundamentally conflict with the emotional detachment this divine role demands.

He’s close, perhaps closer than anyone, but his humanity makes him a risky choice for such a responsibility. Still, if anyone could eventually balance power and heart, it might just be Vegeta.

2 Piccolo

Next God of Destruction in Universe 7

After the events of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Piccolo reached new heights, rivaling even Goku and Vegeta.
His calm demeanor, intelligence, and deep understanding of balance make him a surprisingly strong contender.
He has the perfect temperament, wise, rational, and capable of making difficult choices without personal bias.
If Beerus ever retires, Piccolo could be the perfect replacement.

1 Frieza

Next God of Destruction in Universe 7

And at number one, Frieza.
Yes, the same Frieza who once destroyed Planet Vegeta.
He’s ruthless, strategic, and power-hungry, everything a God of Destruction embodies. After his intense training, he unlocked Black Frieza, a form so powerful he defeated Gas in a single strike.
Frieza already understands how to wield destructive energy and maintains total control over his emotions and power.
He’s cold, calculating, and ambitious, exactly what the position demands.

My Personal Opinion on Who Should Be the Next God of Destruction

From all the candidates on this list, the ones who truly stand out as the most suited to become the next God of Destruction are Piccolo and Vegeta.
Both have demonstrated incredible growth, discipline, and understanding of balance — qualities that define a true destroyer.

However, based on our analysis and research, Frieza ranks first on this list.
Why? Because across the multiverse, there are several Gods of Destruction who share a similar cold, ruthless, and calculating nature — just like Frieza.
The only reason their power doesn’t spiral out of control is because of Zeno, who keeps them in check.

There’s another interesting angle too — the Namekian race, from which Piccolo hails, also holds divine history.
The Super Dragon Balls were created by a Namekian from Universe 6, hinting that the Namekian race has a strong connection to divine energy.
Meanwhile, in the Saiyan history, there once existed the Super Saiyan God, but we still don’t know whether he held a divine position like the Supreme Kai, or if he was more like Beerus, a true God of Destruction.

Still, if I had to choose personally — my pick would be Piccolo.
After witnessing his evolution, calm nature, and leadership in recent arcs, I believe Piccolo embodies the perfect balance between strength, wisdom, and restraint — the three pillars a God of Destruction truly needs.

So while Frieza may rank first by technical qualifications, Piccolo remains my personal choice for the next God of Destruction of Universe 7.

Conclusion

So, while Goku and Vegeta may seem like the obvious choices, Frieza and Piccolo are actually the most balanced contenders for the role of Universe 7’s next God of Destruction.

But what do you think? Who deserves to inherit Beerus’s Role?
