What Is Anime

Hello readers! If you’re new to the anime world and don’t know what anime is, then later in this article you are going to find out what anime is, why anime is good, and why anime is more popular than other animation.

Well, it’s basically a super awesome style of animation that comes from Japan. It uses both drawings done by hand and animation made on computers. Pretty neat, huh?

What Is Anime

You might not know this, but anime has been around since way back in 1917! But it really started to become what we know today in the 1960s. This was mostly thanks to a really creative person named Osamu Tezuka. People often call him the ‘father of anime’ because he was so important in making it popular.

Now, let’s talk about the places that make anime – the studios. You’ve probably heard of big names like Studio Ghibli, Kyoto Animation, and Sunrise. These are like the big bosses when it comes to creating our favorite shows.

And let’s give a shout-out to the people who started it all! Oten Shimokawa, Seitaro Kitayama, and Junichi Kouchi – they were the real pioneers who made anime possible.

Remember the show ‘Astro Boy’? That was a big deal back in 1963, and it was directed by Tezuka himself. It got a whole bunch of new creators inspired and even led to the start of big studios like Madhouse and Sunrise. That’s making a real difference!

Tezuka’s influence didn’t stop there. He helped shape the whole anime world, bringing us all sorts of different types of stories that we love today.

Let’s not forget the shows that became famous everywhere, like ‘Sailor Moon’ and ‘Dragon Ball Z.’ These were translated into tons of languages, making anime a hit all over the world.

Now, for some of the really classic ones. ‘Akira,’ ‘Spirited Away,’ ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’ – these are gems that have really stuck with us.

But wait, let’s also give some love to five super cool anime from the shonen genre (that’s usually action-packed stuff aimed at young guys). These shows have really captured our hearts.

And here’s a fun fact: Did you know that ‘Astro Boy’ actually inspired Akira Toriyama to create ‘Dragon Ball’? Yep, it’s true! And the rest, as they say, is history.

And talking about history, who could forget the ‘Big Three’ anime – ‘Naruto,’ ‘Bleach,’ and ‘One Piece’? These shows have everything – action, adventure, even a bit of romance. They really helped put anime on the map for a lot of people.

In the last few years, anime like Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Revengers, and some others have become super popular all around the world. With new animation styles and better technology, the anime industry is getting huge.

Also, lots of new studios are being created. For example, the people who made One Punch Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Chainsaw Man have started their own studios.

Because of how big anime has become, other things like cosplay (dressing up as characters) and action figures have also grown in popularity worldwide. There used to be only a few people who did cosplay or who wanted to buy action figures.

After new-generation anime like One Punch Man, Chainsaw Man, and Spy x Family made an impact, and now that we’re all connected online with faster internet, these two industries (cosplay and figures) have also grown a lot.

There can also be some downsides to anime. Some people think it’s just for kids, and if kids watch anime on streaming platforms, they might see violence that could affect them. I remember when I was a kid watching Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, I also tried to do the Kamehameha and other attacks!

But when I was a kid, we had to watch these shows on TV, and there were TV rules. Because of that, scenes with blood might have been edited, and some scenes were even taken out if needed.
